INTERACTIVE METRONOME

Interactive Metronome (IM) is a research-based, occupational therapy training program that helps children (and adults) overcome attention, memory, and coordination difficulties. A computer system is utilized that requires a child to respond to visual and/or auditory cues in a timely manner. Scores in a child’s performance are shared with parents and progress can be objectively seen over time.

Timing in the brain plays a vital part of how we function; some areas include detecting where a sound is coming from, wake/sleep cycle, focusing attention, reading comprehension, memory, processing speech, and motor coordination.

The Interactive Metronome can assist children in making gains in therapy more quickly and exercises are customized for each child’s needs. Westchester Therapy Solutions has observed significant improvements with our children as a result of this intervention.

Interactive Metronome is recommended for children with:

  • ADHD
  • Apraxia/Dyspraxia
  • Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) – including Asperger’s, PDD
  • Sensory Processing Disorder
  • Language-Learning Disabled
