EARLY INTERVENTION

Babies to 3 years of age

Westchester Therapy Solutions is an approved NYS provider for early intervention (EI) services. We have a contract with Westchester County and NYS Department of Health to provide pediatric occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech & language therapy. EI therapy services can be provided in our therapy gym facility, your home, preschool, or day care center as decided upon by you and the Early Intervention Program.

The Early Intervention Program (EIP) is a public program for infants and toddlers with special needs. Children with diagnosed conditions that lead to developmental delays (i.e. Cerebral Palsy, Low Muscle Tone (hypotonia), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Torticollis, Prematurity and Down Syndrome) are eligible for the EIP. Children with no diagnosis but have developmental delays, tactile defensiveness, sensory modulation disorder, picky eating/food aversion may be eligible for the EIP if their delays are significant.

Accessing Early Intervention Therapy in Westchester County

If you have concerns about your child’s development and believe they would benefit from working with an early intervention therapist, you can call Westchester County Department of Health Early Intervention Program at (914) 813-5094 to refer your child. WTS can help you make the referral to the EIP if you wish. If you need assistance, please call us and our friendly staff will be happy to help you. If your child is found to be eligible for services by evaluations in the EI program, you, Westchester County staff, and other team members will make a plan to help your child and your family.

Early Intervention services as authorized by Westchester County are provided at no cost to you. The county will arrange for the services to be provided and will choose the provider based on the needs of your child and family. Your child’s health insurance may be used to cover some of the costs. All other costs for the EIP services are paid for by Westchester County and New York State.

Early Intervention services are provided where it’s best for the child – in places such as your home, day care, preschool, our sensory gym or other community setting. The EIP covers the cost of Early Intervention services by WTS.

Are my child’s motor and language skills age appropriate?
